The valley of Ofredalen plays a central part in in the industrial history of Årdal. The area is home to several hydropower plants and a building complex from the 19th century that includes a sawmill, mill, boat house, smokehouse, smithy, farmhouse and a food store. The old hydro powered construction is a little piece of history in regards to Norway as an energy producing nation.
Not only can you stay the night, but you can go rowing, paddling and fishing, as well as enjoy the local cuisine in beautiful surroundings.
A visit here combines very nicely with a hotel stay by the fjord at Årdalstangen and experiencing the valley of Utladalen with Utladalen Naturhus (nature house) as your base in Øvre (upper) Årdal.
